It must be said that it didn’t rain, unlike last year. (Hurrah)
The day was overcast with numerous bright spells, the wind was from the west, west northwest, strong ebb tide throughout all the racing during the day. The course was a port hand course, winds were light to medium and very shifty, typical of the wind coming off the land. Windward marker about 300m above Moville pier , gybe Marker about 200 M inside but below Moville lighthouse, through the line on the shore. There were three races in the series for the Kelly Cup, race-1 was two laps, race-2 was one lap due to lighter winds and race-3 was two laps, the wind strengthened.
Race-1 1st - James (Senior) Hockley
2nd - James (Peter) Hockley

Race three was the game changer for the over all event with both the Hockley gents competing for the top slot and John Mc Guinness looking for a win and a possible 2nd place overall, the racing was close through out the two laps, In the last lap John Mc Cann positioned himself for a gun across the line for a 2nd place. It was John Mc Guiness that took line honours with James Peter Hockley taking a third and securing the overall event win, the other boats all followed close behind.
